I might be slacking in the creative department lately probably because work has picked up slightly. For example, me getting up at 4:45am this morning to be at a suburban hospital at 6:30am. I got to observe a pretty neat surgery (Vitrectomy) where they remove all of the fluid inside the eye. They also repaired a detached retina. But I realized I am not that much of a morning person!! I got home around 1:00pm, collected and organized my notes, then snoozed for a good solid hour before my next meeting. The working-from-home gods were smiling upon me today.

Just wanted to say that this is the coolest thing I've seen all day. I'm an aspiring medical illustrator (currently a lowly undergrad), but I'm wondering, how often do you get to see this stuff (going to hospitals and watching cool surgeries)??
As much as I would enjoy sitting at a computer all day working on illustrations/animations and whatnot, it would be so cool to watch the things you get to illustrate from time to time as well :)
I work in a hospital directly with a surgeon, so I can observe his surgeries anytime I want to! It is pretty neat and changes things up from the computer-sitting. I've gone to a few hospitals in the area and was able to see a cesarean section! There are so many opportunities out there to avoid sitting all day! :-)

Eye surgery! Love it! I'll start getting to do similar things this year.
